Featured as the opening theme song of Fighter of the Destiny 择天记 (2017) starring Luhan and Guli Nazha, Jason Zhang‘s ‘Stars’ does not disappoint. It didn’t leave much of an impression at first, but it eventually grew on me and landed itself on my Spotify playlist. However, I must admit that the first half of the verse is personally a tad weird, but a catchy chorus makes up for it.
Overall C-Drama OST rating: 6/10

I grew up listening to Cantopop duo Twins (Gillian Chung & Charlene Choi). They were a part of my teenage years and I absolutely adored them. Up until 2008, when the infamous photo scandal broke out, Twins were still at the top of the game and dominated the Hong Kong music scene. Since then the group’s popularity has declined, but the ladies still have a very dedicated fanbase. So, you can practically see them on tour year round, if they aren’t busy filming movies and dramas. They released a new song this month on April 6th titled ‘Appointment/Date’ 有約 and dropped a music video for it today. It is a very basic song, a typical ‘Twins release’ to be honest. Over the years they’ve had some standouts, but in general their music and best hits have always remained the same. This new song sounds like something they released a decade ago. But, it does bring back good memories and it’s always nice to see Gillian and Charlene together. Watch the MV below!

Aska Yang shot to fame in 2007, after participating in the Taiwan singing competition One Million Star (超級星光大道), since then he has released 3 studio albums and held a number of concerts around the world. He was my mom’s favorite singer and I also listened to his music every day in art class when I was back in college. I liked him so much at the time that I even drew a portrait of him with charcoal for my final project, and actually got full points for it (lol). In 2010, I flew to Las Vegas with my mom to see Aska perform live (we had front row tickets)! It was one of the most amazing experiences I’ve ever had and one of the best memories we shared together…

Hubert Wu (胡鴻鈞) who placed second in TVB’s 2010 The Voice singing competition is my favorite soloist amongst the younger generation of singers active in the Hong Kong music scene. Signed to The Voice Entertainment Group under TVB, his vocals can be heard in many of the company’s television series theme songs. He celebrated his 27th birthday today and since I totally believe he deserves more recognition, I’m gonna wish him a happy birthday by sharing the music videos of some of his best songs here! Check out my favorite ballads by Hubert Wu under the cut!
